This month we’re M.A.D about…02.12.2019
No matter what industry you work in, we all need time to relax, take a deep breath and enjoy a break. Here in the M.A.D office, we take our time off very seriously and are always sharing recommendations with each other on a daily basis. The more fulfilling your spare time is, the more productive you are at work. With that in mind we’re sharing a few things we’re M.A.D about this month…
Although it doesn’t include a great deal of reading, we love this illustrated story by Jenny Kroik from The New Yorker. It’s about how New Yorkers collect art and make it part of their homes. Fun, cheerful and full of colour, these paintings tell a story about the beauty of art and curating your own pieces.
An interesting opinion piece by Alex Stedman, blogger at The Frugality, about how the tides seem to be turning on Instagram and people want to see more ‘real life’ content on stories. Are the days of perfectly set up and glossy Insta shots coming to end? Who knows, but we agree that it’s refreshing to see how people really live their lives in the online sphere.
Season 4 – If you aren’t already caught up with The Good Place, we suggest you schedule some time in for a cosy date with Netflix. This American sitcom is about the afterlife and a selective heaven-like utopia based on a points based system on earth. This is a firm favourite in our office.
Even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK, you need to head over to Youtube to watch the Making Perfect: Thanksgiving series from Bon Appétit. Featuring all of our favourite chefs from the BA Test Kitchen, they make their version of a perfect Thanksgiving meal. From the perfect sides and pie, to the turkey and cranberry sauce, this series is everything you need this festive season. (Top tip – don’t watch on an empty stomach!)
Our favourite photo editor in the office. If you have an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, you can sync your images across all of your devices, making it seamless and easy to share your high quality photos on social media.
A mindfulness and meditation app that offers a free basic course as well as subscriptions. Meditating can be tricky at first, but once you get going you’ll be surprised at what a positive effect it can have on your day-to-day life!
Finally, some of our favourite background music in the office this month!
