Job title – Managing Director

Hi Amy, tell us more about your roll at M.A.D Communications…

Along with Marie, I founded M.A.D. My role is extremely varied, covering everything from copywriting, PR, and social media, through to the marketing, financial, and management side of the business – there’s never a dull moment!

Why did you decide to work in a creative industry?

I’ve always enjoyed being creative – writing, drawing, and making things – so I guess working within the creative industries was a pretty natural step. I love how you can combine your job with things you love doing!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Just go for it! I think when you’re younger, it’s often hard to have the confidence and self belief to really do what you want, especially if it seems a little ambitious or unusual.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Calm, patient and a little bit ‘unusual’

When you’re not in the office, what do you love to do?

When I’m not in the office, I like to spend time with my friends, usually eating and enjoying a gin or two. I also love travelling and exploring new places. Of course, you also can’t beat a cosy duvet day with a good book or a film!

Okay, now for some quick fire questions…

Favourite film?

Oooh that’s a hard one. Three Men and a Baby has always been one of my favourites. I have a tendency to fall asleep halfway through films though…

Currently watching/reading?

Watching Dark on Netflix – highly recommended! And reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Murakami – I’m really loving his books at the moment!

Best eatery in the North East?

That’s a difficult one, there are so many amazing food options in the North East! At the moment, I’m really enjoying The Ship in the Ouseburn…and Chucho’s in Byker!

Favourite social media platform?

Instagram.

Your life motto?

There’s always an option and a solution…Marie says it all the time and it really helps put stressful or difficult situations into perspective.
