December 2022: Dates for your diary and content ideas

29 November 2022

Can you believe it’s December?

Do we hear the sound of sleigh bells ringing?

‘Tis the season for great content, and December is packed full of awesome dates to add to your diary to get you and your audience in the festive spirit!

Pop on some Xmas tunes and whip out your calendar – here are the top dates you need to look out for this December, and a few cheeky content ideas thrown in there for good measure that you can include in your digital or social media content.

December 1st – 6th

1st: English Breakfast Day

Set yourself up for the festive season the right way (and who doesn’t love an excuse for a full English, eh?).

Take your team out for a working brunch to your favourite full English spot and take some snaps of the experience, or shout out your local fave eateries who make the best breakfasts around!

You can even take to the kitchen and rustle up your own English Breakfast, sharing your secret recipes and ingredients with your audience.

3rd: International Day of Persons with Disabilities

According to the UN, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities “aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.”

This year, the theme is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world.”

It’s a key opportunity to showcase how your organisation is championing change when it comes to supporting inclusivity, accessibility, and equality in the workplace for persons with disabilities.

Reinforce your core values or allow your disabled colleagues or staff to tell their stories, and help to raise awareness in your industry!

4th: National Sock Day

Get those fluffy winter warmers out – it’s time to share your best Xmas socks!

Perhaps hold a competition for the best (or worst) socks in your team or encourage your audience to take part and share their feet warmers.

5th: International Volunteers Day

This ones for the volunteers. Let’s face it, they deserve a day of recognition. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate any volunteers within your team or shout out any volunteer organisations you work with to help raise awareness.

6th: St. Nicholas Day

Jolly ol’ St. Nick will soon be on his rounds, and today is about telling the real story of the man behind the bearded icon we all know and love!

December 7th – 14th

9th: Christmas Card Day

Spread some festive cheer and enjoy a day of exchanging Christmas cards with your team (make sure to snap a pic for the ‘gram!).

It’s also a fun excuse to send a special offer round to your email list subscribers, or have them ‘open’ a discount code on your social media.

11th: Christmas Jumper Day

Some love them, some loath them, but Christmas Jumper Day is the perfect excuse to rake out your gaudiest festive jumper!

Whether you choose to raise money for charity with your jumpers or whether it’s just a fun way to welcome in the festive season with your team, it’s a wonderful way to grab some pics of you and your colleagues in action wearing their winter best.

December 15th – 21st

18th: National Free Shipping Day

Give the gift of free shipping! Every little bit helps these days so your audience will appreciate a little money off here and there.

21st: Winter Solstice

It may feel like winter has been here for ages, but December 21st marks the winter solstice and the official start of winter.

It also marks the shortest day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight, so why not offer something that’ll lift your audience’s spirits when they may be feeling a little gloomy.

Offer a special solstice discount, share some of your favourite things to do during the darker nights or ask your audience to chip in with their favorite winter activities.

December 22nd – 29th

24th: Christmas Eve

Decorations are up, presents are wrapped, stockings are hung – it’s almost time for the big day!

Christmas eve is a wonderful time to share your personal Christmas eve traditions and ask your audience to share theirs.

It’s also a handy opportunity to remind your audience when and if you’ll be out of office over the festive season.

25th: Christmas Day

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It’s finally here!!!

While you’re meeting up with family and friends or enjoying a quiet day in front of the TV, take a moment to wish your audience and customers a happy Christmas.

Share a couple of personal pics from your day, or schedule in a bright and festive graphic with a heartfelt message.

26th: Boxing Day

Aaaaaand just like that, it’s all over.

Some of us spend the day recovering from an inevitable food coma, while others are up bright and early to hit the sales!

Make sure to share any important information for your audience if you are having a Boxing Day sale – pick out 2 or 3 key pieces to stir up interest or highlight your hottest deal of the day.

December 30th – 31st

31st: New Years Eve

New Years Eve is a wonderful time for reflection and anticipation as we move into 2023.

Take the opportunity to thank your team, your audience, and your customers for a fantastic year. If it hasn’t been so fantastic, thank them all the same for sticking by you through challenging times.

Share your top memories or achievements of 2022, and set your goals, hopes and objectives for the new year as you prepare to welcome in 2023!
