26th-30th May Top Marketing Moments | 2-minute read
This month’s brand moments had a bit of everything. From supermarket mischief to cartoon family milestones.
Aldi cheekily parked itself outside McDonald’s to hand out hashbrowns after the 11am breakfast cut off, while Peppa Pig welcomed a brand-new baby sister.
Keep reading to find out what smaller brands can learn from both.
In a classic case of Aldi’s cheeky brand energy, they popped up right outside a McDonald’s in London to serve free hashbrowns after the chains 11am breakfast cut off. While McDonald’s was shutting up shop on its breakfast menu, Aldi was just getting started.
The supermarket served up their own 75p frozen hashbrowns to commuters who missed the McDonald’s window. They even had a dig on socials: “Breakfast ends at 11am…but not here.”
Petty? Maybe. Brilliant? Absolutely.
You don’t need a massive budget to make a big impact. A sharp idea and smart timing does the trick.
Our advice:
Recently Mummy Pig gave birth and Peppa is nowa big sister (again)! 20 years after George arrived on the scene, a new baby, named Evie, has been introduced to the world of Peppa Pig.
The news broke via the official Peppa Pig channels and comes just ahead of Peppa’s 21st birthday this summer.
What can smaller brands take from this?
This week’s stories prove that bold, well-timed ideas win attention. Big or small, the best brands stay relevant by being playful, reactive, and human. More of that please.
