Weekly Social Media Update | 2-minute read

Well, it’s been a while (😅) and we’ve got some catching up to do.

Another week, another round of algorithm tweaks, platform power moves, and updates your social strategy can’t afford to ignore.

We’re talking:

🟡Meta telling you to stop posting links in captions (yes, really)

🟡And Instagram finally letting you rearrange your grid

Here’s what’s new and what you need to do about it:

Meta says no links in the caption

Heads up! If you’re still dropping links in your Facebook post captions, it’s time to switch it up. Meta’s now recommending that you ditch the link-in-caption habit and stick your URLs in the comments instead.

Why? Posts with links in the caption can get less reach. Meta’s algorithm tends to de-prioritise them, meaning fewer eyes on your content.

Dropping the link in the comments keeps your post cleaner, keeps the algo happy, and helps you stay visible.

It’s not new advice, but it’s now officially acknowledged, so if reach matters (and let’s be honest, it does), tweak your strategy.

Instagram is finally letting you rearrange your grid

Instagram users, rejoice! You can now drag and drop posts to reorganise your profile grid. No deleting, no re-uploading, no engagement loss. Just tap “Edit Grid,” move your top-performing content to the front, align your aesthetics, save, and boom.

Why would you need to rearrange your grid?

First impressions count

Your grid is your portfolio. When someone lands on your profile, you’ve got seconds to show them what you’re about. Leading with your best, most relevant posts can mean the difference between a follow and a scroll-past.

Feature timely content

Got a sale, launch, or event happening? Pull those posts to the top so they’re the first thing people see without having to repost or spam stories.

Brand consistency

If your brand plays with colour themes, visual storytelling, or post-by-row strategies (like 3-post rows or puzzle feeds), this feature helps you realign without breaking your flow.

Clean up without deleting

Old posts still matter, maybe for SEO, social proof, or historic engagement. Now you can bury the outdated ones without losing the likes, comments, or copy.

Curate a mood

Want your grid to tell a story or set a vibe? Rearranging helps you sequence your content like a visual narrative. Perfect for campaigns or rebrands.

Speaking of Instagram

Search something on IG and you’ll now see an AI-generated summary sitting right at the top of your results. Yep, before accounts, before content, before anything else.

If there’s an exact match for what you typed, accounts still show up underneath (thankfully).
But if not? You’ll need to go straight to the For You tab, where you’ll find similar results.

Same time next week? We’ll do our best😉
